Replacement wheels for large models of the first Soviet jet fighters. The words under load in the name mean that the tire has a flattened contact patch at the ground, just as the weight of a standing aircraft presses it. The set is in 1:32 scale and according to the name it covers the MiG-9 and MiG-15 types.
Kit wheels tend to be split in the vertical plane, so a seam runs across the middle of the tire and has to be filled and sanded down. The tread pattern suffers in the process and the lettering on the sidewall is lost. A replacement wheel is supplied as a compact shape with no parting seam, and the flattening also optically settles the model onto the surface instead of leaving it standing as if on marbles.
First check the diameter of the axle stub on the landing gear leg and, if need be, shorten it or redrill it to the required size. Dry-fit the wheel and check that the flattened area points straight down, otherwise the model will look lopsided. Paint the tire dark gray, not black, set the hub apart and sharpen the transition between them with a thin dark line. Dust on the tread is tuned in with a light pigment applied dry with a soft brush.
