The SX-Art set accompanies a model of the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft gun-missile system in the tracked rendition, in 1:35 scale. The package holds no vehicle, but an aid for painting it.
The Pantsir-S1 is a Russian short-range system that combines guided missiles with a pair of 30 mm automatic cannons and carries its own radars as well as electro-optical tracking equipment. It is best known in the wheeled rendition on a heavy chassis, but a variant seated on a tracked carrier exists too. That one can move together with armored units over terrain where a wheeled machine runs into its limits. The guidance combines a radar and an optical channel, and so there are conspicuously many antennas, lenses and covers on the superstructure.
The system has a great many panes, lenses and antennas on it, which are hard to clean after spraying. It therefore pays to paint in the order hull, turret and superstructure, and to leave the mask in place until the last coat. When spraying, hold the nozzle further from the edge and rather add another pass than overdo the coat. Time the lifting off for the moment when the paint is dry to the touch. Leave the thin supports and antennas until the very end, otherwise you will break them while handling the model.
