Ten pieces of a small accessory for modelers who build present-day equipment of the United States in a large scale. The real subject is a plastic can for fuel of the kind that tracked and wheeled machines carry today on external carriers. The set is made by SX-Art and it is equipment for a scene, not a kit of a vehicle.
The range of a vehicle ends where the diesel runs out, and so the crews take a reserve with them. The cans hang in brackets on the sides and at the rear, lie in baskets above the tracks or are stacked on the ground beside a resting convoy. Ten pieces make it possible to fill the brackets on one machine and still have some left for a supply pile beside it. A different position for each vessel at the same time prevents the impression that these are castings stacked in a production row.
Most of the dirt settles around the neck and the lid of fuel vessels, because that is exactly where the pouring and the dripping happen. Darken the area around the cap, therefore, and let a thin trail run down below it. Rub the handles to a glossier shade; they are gripped most often. Leave the rest of the surface matte on the other hand, and add fine scratches and light dust, which is held in the seams and in the transition to the bottom.
