1:35 Dragon Teeth Anti-Tank Obstacle set - Small Type is a set of concrete anti-tank pyramids of the smaller type, meant to complete a diorama in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set brings the so-called dragon teeth – concrete pyramids that were built in rows across the terrain during the Second World War to stop the advance of tracked vehicles. The designation Small Type in the name refers to the smaller of the sizes used. It is a scenery element for 1:35 scale, not a model of a combat vehicle.
Concrete obstacles of this kind formed the backbone of permanent fortified lines. They were laid in several rows one behind the other, usually combined with a ditch, a minefield and firing positions, so a tank could not drive straight through and had to look for a way around under fire. In many places in western and central Europe they still stand today; their concrete is worn, overgrown with moss and in places the reinforcement shows through.
The pyramids look best when they do not stand on a level surface as if on parade – sink them partly into the ground, tilt them slightly and let soil pile up around them. The basis of the painting is a gray concrete shade, over which a darker wash into the joints and dry-brushing on the edges will sit well. Pigments add dust and mud to the lower parts, and the green of moss is made by stippling a very dark green.
