About product

AEC Matador Mid Production 1:35 (AFV Club)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the British AEC Matador vehicle in its mid production form, in 1:35 scale from the maker AFV Club. The kit works the frame and the suspension, including the winch, the cargo body with its benches and the opening doors and windshield precisely. The package contains photo-etched parts and further accessories; take the exact contents from the manufacturer's catalog.

The real subject

The AEC Matador was a British heavy truck with 4x4 drive, used by British and Allied forces as a medium artillery tractor as well during the Second World War. The Associated Equipment Company, known for building the London double-decker buses, produced it from 1940. The Matador towed guns and carried their crews and ammunition in demanding terrain.

Building and painting tips

Assemble the frame, the suspension and the winch first, and then the cab and the body. Use thin modeling cement on the joints, treat the surface with a base color (primer) and apply the finish with an airbrush. The wooden texture of the body comes into its own with glazes and a dry brush, and you will finish the mud and dust effects with washes and pigments.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of British and Allied equipment of the Second World War
  • Anyone interested in artillery tractors and utility vehicles
  • Makers of dioramas on an artillery theme
  • More experienced builders

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
