1:35 AH-1G Cobra (early/late) - a single-sided Art Scale mask for ICM models

This is a set of pre-cut self-adhesive masking templates in 1:35 scale for the glazing of the AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter. It is not a model but an accessory: the templates are pressed onto the clear parts, protect them while spraying and, once lifted off, leave sharply bounded cockpit frames. The set is cut for AH-1G models from the maker ICM, for the early and the late production version alike.

The single-sided form covers the outer side of the glazing. If you want to pick the frames visible from inside the cockpit out in paint as well, a double-sided variant of the same item exists.

What the mask is for

The cockpit of the Cobra is narrow, long and divided by many frames that masking tape follows very badly. Pre-cut templates save hours of cutting and above all guarantee that the frames will be equally wide on both sides of the fuselage. On a two-seat tandem cockpit that shows immediately.

How the mask is used

• First free the glazing of grease and let it dry thoroughly.
• Lift the templates with tweezers and lay them on from the center toward the edges.
• Press the edges down with a toothpick, so that no paint runs under them.
• Spray in thin coats and lift the mask off while the paint is freshly dry.
