A cockpit accessory for a plastic model of a helicopter, not a kit. The color print with relief texture is laid on decal paper and transfers like an ordinary decal: soak it off in lukewarm water, slide it onto the part, line it up and settle it with a decal softener. There is no cutting and no plastic cement.
The cockpit of an attack helicopter works quite differently from that of a fighter, and this one is a good example. The fuselage is exceptionally narrow, so the two places are arranged one behind the other: the systems operator in front, the pilot behind and higher up. The front and rear stations are not copies of each other — the front one is built around the sighting system and the weapon controls, the rear one carries the main flight and engine instruments. To that are added the typical helicopter controls, that is the collective by the left hand, the cyclic in the middle between the knees and a console with panels between the seats. The set is listed for the twin-engine versions designated AH-1W and AH-1T, which belong to the same development branch.
The Cobra has glazing made up of flat panes, which neither distort nor darken the view inside the way curved covers do. The cockpit is also long and set low, so once it is closed practically the whole interior of both stations is visible, including the belts and the consoles. On a helicopter model, then, work in the cockpit is the least likely of any category to be lost — and conversely an unfinished, bare plastic panel shows straight away. The clear parts are worth polishing, and allow the decals to dry thoroughly before you close the cockpit up.
The set is an accessory for the build, not a kit. The model, glue, paints and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check before ordering that the set corresponds to your particular kit.
