3D interior decals for the AH-64D/E Apache, 1:35, Quinta Studio

This is not a helicopter model but a set of color 3D decals on decal paper for detailing the interior of the cockpit. They are raised, fully colored details printed on backing paper which slide into place after a brief soak: the instrument panels, the side panels and the controls take on a faithful, three-dimensional look without laborious painting. This is the smaller (basic) version of the set, aimed at the main cockpit panels; it does not contain seat belts. The set is intended for models of the AH-64D/E attack helicopter in 1:35 scale. The decals are shaped for the parts of the Meng kit.

The real subject

The AH-64 Apache is an American attack helicopter with a two-seat tandem cockpit, modern avionics and extensive instrumentation. It is precisely those richly divided cockpit panels that let 3D decals come into their own and raise the realism of a finished model considerably.

Use

• Give the surface under the parts a gloss coat (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22): the parts have no adhesive layer of their own and will not hold on a matte surface
• Soak the cut-out part in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the backing paper into place; on complex shapes a drop of super glue helps
• Suitable for AH-64D/E models in the matching scale
• Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as their chemistry attacks the printed resin and destroys the part
