A photo-etched set for a model of the AH-64E attack helicopter in 1:35 scale. It replaces coarser plastic detail with thin metal parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AH-64E is a later version of the Apache attack helicopter. The crew is two men seated in tandem, the armament is carried on stub wings along the sides of the fuselage, and under the forward fuselage there is a traversing gun turret. In the large 1:35 scale every panel, grille and bracket stands out on the model, so a photo-etched set pays off most on exactly these machines.
Photo-etched parts are made by etching an outline out of thin sheet metal whose thickness matches the scale far better than a plastic part. A helicopter has a great many features on its surface that simply cannot be made fine enough in plastic: grilles, loops, stiffeners, guard frames. Exactly what the set holds and where each part belongs is given by the manufacturer in the instructions; that is also where the kit the set is cut for is stated.
Work with a sharp blade and fine-tipped tweezers; a metal part is awkward to handle with the fingers, and the grease from your skin then interferes with the paint. Do not form rounded parts over an edge but around a cylindrical object of a suitable diameter, so no crease appears. They are glued with super glue applied with the tip of a toothpick; any surplus turns white and shows. Degrease the parts before painting and apply a primer. Read the sequence of steps through in advance, since some parts are fitted before the fuselage is closed.
The helicopter model, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
