A marking carries information on vehicles and in a scene: it says what is inside a crate, where it is safe to take hold and whose it is. It is exactly such small things that set a model apart from a toy, because the eye reads them before the shape. The stencil creates the marking directly with sprayed paint, so no glossy carrier film is left on the surface and the marking can be left faded or partly painted over without trouble.
The marking of vehicles and their equipment suggests itself, along with the marking of crates, barrels and supply material, the marking of gates, stores and workshop support areas, and a set piece behind vehicles. Which particular signs the sheet carries and how large they are should be compared beforehand against the manufacturer's instructions and against the area you are aiming at, so that they fit the part in size. In a scene, less is more: two or three markings in the right place work better than a whole side of a vehicle covered.
Let the ground dry completely and free it of dust. Lay the stencil down over its whole area, press it down or fix it around the edge with masking tape and line the position up against the edge of the part. Spray at right angles, at low pressure and in several light layers, or the paint will run under the edge and the fine shapes will merge. Take the stencil off while the paint is still damp and wipe it at once so that the subject does not clog.
