An accessory set for 1:35 scale built around rounds of 12.7x108 mm caliber. It is not a kit of a weapon or a vehicle but a small accessory with which a finished model is equipped: ammunition made ready by the machine gun on a commander's cupola, rounds stacked on the bed, or scattered on the base of a diorama.
The 12.7x108 mm caliber is a Soviet heavy round for heavy machine guns. It is fired by the DShK and the modernized DShKM machine guns, by the newer NSV and its tank version the NSVT, and at present by the Kord machine gun. These are exactly the weapons that appear on the commander's cupolas of the T-54, T-55, T-62 and T-72 series of tanks and on armored personnel carriers, so rounds of this caliber are typical equipment on models of Eastern vehicles. It differs from the Western 12.7x99 mm caliber in its longer case, and the two kinds of ammunition are not interchangeable — on a model it is therefore worth reaching for the right variant.
The material of the package is not stated here, so choose the glue according to what you find in the set: solvent cement for plastic, cyanoacrylate for resin and metal. Cut the small parts off with a sharp scalpel over a tray with a raised edge — once a round has dropped, it is hard to find in this scale. The basis is a brass shade for the case, with the bullet set apart in a darker metal. A fine wash will settle the shadow between the individual rounds, and a final polishing with graphite or a metallic pigment will add a fresh sheen. Belts of rounds can be given a wave with heat if they are resin, but proceed carefully.
The set is supplied unpainted and is not a model on its own. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
