The subject comes from the game world of the abandoned Zone, where the exoskeleton represents the heaviest protective suit: an external load-bearing structure carries the weight of the armor and of the load, and the figure in it looks stocky, almost machine-like. The Spalah brand, which comes from Ukraine, offers it as a separate figure in 1:35 scale.
In the stories of the series the exoskeleton belongs to the top of the equipment: it is available only to seasoned explorers who move in the most dangerous parts of the Zone and can carry supplies for a long expedition in it. Visually it is the very opposite of a lightly dressed newcomer - an angular outline, visible joints of the structure, a respirator. In a scene it therefore works as a striking focal point and it stands up even to being placed alone on a base.
Here it pays to work with texture: a base in a dark tone, and on it metallic shades laid on with a sponge so that irregular chipping appears on the edges. Letting a dark shade run into the seams emphasizes the division of the armor, and rust and grease belong to the lower parts. Leave the visor or the glass of the mask glossy and knock the rest of the figure down to matte instead - the contrast of the two surfaces makes most of the final impression.
