A figure of an Austro-Hungarian infantryman in 1:35 scale, the first of the line.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Austro-Hungarian army is represented in the modeling range considerably more modestly than the armies of the great powers, even though it put millions of men into the field. The monarchy came to an end in 1918, so the figure is aimed at views from the First World War and the years just before it. The mark of number one suggests that this is the first item of a longer line of figures on foot, out of which a whole group can be put together.
In 1:35 scale a figure one hundred and seventy-five centimeters tall comes out at five centimeters. The figure suits trench dioramas, scenes with period hardware and a standalone display piece on a small base, where every stroke of the brush is visible. A single figure has the advantage over a set that it can be placed exactly where it fits and no surplus figures are left over.
Cut any excess material away a little distance from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder so that you do not touch the engraving of the folds and the equipment. Before painting, wash, degrease and prime the figure; on an untreated surface the paint rubs off while being held in the fingers. Paint the face and the hands last and work through thin coats: the base tone first, then a shadow into the eye sockets and under the chin, and finally the highlight on the nose and the cheekbones. A uniform is held together by the shadow in the folds, not by an exact shade of cloth.
For builders of First World War dioramas and for modelers who want to take a figure to display standard. Paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
