The real subject

The BTR-80 is an eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier of Soviet origin, one of the most widespread wheeled armored vehicles of its category. The hull is adapted for swimming, and the BTR-80A version is recognized by its tall narrow turret with an autocannon. The vehicles have served and still serve with a number of armies and wear a colorful range of camouflage, from single-color finishes to irregular two-color and three-color patterns.

What the set contains

In the package are masks with the shapes of the camouflage blotches cut out in advance, for 1:35 scale. They transfer the pattern onto the model without tracing with a pencil and without laboriously shaping stencils from adhesive tape, so the boundaries of the colors hold the same shape over the whole surface of the vehicle, on the hull and on the sides above the wheels.

Building and painting tips

First spray the base shade and let it cure thoroughly. Then clean and degrease the surface, and only then apply the masks and press them down around their whole perimeter, so that paint does not run under the edge. Apply the next shade in thin layers from the edge of the mask toward the middle of the area. Remove the masks shortly after the paint has dried, while the layer is fresh and the edge will stay sharp. On curves and at intricate places, divide the mask into shorter sections and press each one down separately.
