This is a modeling supply, not a kit. The pack holds 50 cotton swabs intended for modelers. The difference from ordinary cosmetic cotton buds is in the tip: Tamiya uses tightly and densely wound cotton that does not fray or come apart even after being soaked in thinner. It therefore leaves no fibers on a freshly finished surface and one swab lasts considerably longer — you use fewer of them and fight with them less. The tip holds its shape even under pressure, so it can be pushed deliberately into a corner, into a panel line or around a rivet without spreading sideways.

Use

• Wiping off excess wash and removable paints — dip in thinner, wipe the surface lightly and leave the pigment only where it belongs (panel lines, recesses, corners).
• Working with decals — pressing a decal down to the surface, forcing air bubbles out and soaking up excess water or softener.
• Applying and blending pigments — dust, soot and mud are easily rubbed into a chosen area with a swab.
• Polishing — gently smoothing a finish, metal highlights or lightening edges (a wear effect).
• Precise cleaning — removing fingerprints, dust and paint residue from places a cloth cannot reach.
