A replacement front end of the late production series of the Chevrolet G7107 truck for models in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The G506 family of all-wheel-drive trucks was among the most widespread Allied vehicles of the Second World War. One and a half tons of payload, a sturdy frame and a reliable inline six-cylinder engine made it an ideal machine for supply columns, engineers and artillery tractors. A substantial part of production went to the Soviet Union through Iran and through Alaska, where the G7107 cargo version served on every front as far as Berlin, and many machines stayed in civilian use long after 1945.
The front of the vehicle changed during production: a differently arranged radiator grille, different headlight mountings and a modified outline of the front panel. This part captures the later shape. The casting carries fine ribbing and thin edges of a kind that an injection mold cannot reach, and it replaces the corresponding part of the kit without any need to rebuild the whole front end.
First wash the casting in warm soapy water so that no mold release layer stays on the surface. Separate the casting block with a saw, not with nippers, and level the surface with sandpaper used dry. It is bonded with super glue, and before painting it pays to spray a primer on which the shade holds just as it does on the surrounding plastic.
