The figure on offer puts to the fore a moment when a soldier is not fighting. The figure stands in a civilian domestic space and its kit is captured with all the straps, pockets and folds that a modern Ukrainian uniform carries. It is made by the brand Spalah from Ukraine by printing in photopolymer resin, which holds sharp edges and the fine texture of the fabric. The package holds the figure itself; the kitchen fittings around it are sold separately.
The figure market is crowded with combat poses. This one aims at the rear areas, at quarters and at the breaks that in reality make up most of the time spent in the field. Spalah does not sculpt its figures in the classic way but scans live soldiers in authentic kit, so the proportions of the body are right and so is the way the load-bearing system sits over the shoulders.
The casting comes with print supports, which have to be nipped off close to the part and the marks they leave leveled with a fine abrasive. The surface is then washed and left to dry out perfectly, otherwise the base coat anchors badly. On an area this small, oil shadows in the folds and a dry brush on the edges of the kit come out well.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
