A set of figures of German paratroopers in 1:35 scale. The designation Rests No.1 in the name refers to figures captured at rest, that is resting outside combat, and to the first part of a series carried in this way. The figures suit both for enlivening a diorama and as company for a separately displayed vehicle.
The Fallschirmjäger were German airborne soldiers of the Second World War. They differed from ordinary infantry at first sight: they wore a helmet without a flared rim, which would have caught on the straps during a jump, and over the uniform they had a short jump smock. It is precisely that which tends to be the most rewarding place to paint on a figure, because it is often executed in a camouflage pattern.
Wash and degrease the figures before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the surface. Apply a thin base coat, and only then the basic shades. Build the face from a darker base toward lighter coats and leave shadow in the eye sockets and under the chin. Bring the uniform to life with a dark saturated application into the folds and with drybrushing along the edges. On a diorama it pays to lean figures in resting positions against a real point, that is against a crate, a tree trunk or the side of a vehicle, so that the posture makes sense.
The package contains only the figures. A vehicle, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
