The real subject

The Pz.Kpfw. IV was a German medium tank and the only German type of its class produced throughout the Second World War. It appeared with a revolving turret on a hull with the gearbox at the front, and the suspension carried eight small road wheels on each side, paired on leaf springs; that look stayed with the type to the end. During the war, however, the machine changed so much that the difference between early and late examples is obvious at a glance: the armament, the thickness of the armor, the turret hatches and the fittings meant to protect the sides all changed. That is exactly why, with this type, it pays to know in advance which variant you are building, because the shape of the fittings and the wheels follows from it.

Building and painting tips

Clean the excess material and the production marks off the parts and sand the mating surfaces. Dry-fit the assembly first and only then apply cement intended for plastic models. It is more convenient to paint the road wheels and the tracks before you fit them permanently. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Apply masking tape before spraying and remove it as soon as the paint has set.
