1:35 M68 Gun barrel for IDF Magach MBT is a replacement turned barrel of the M68 gun for Israeli tanks of the Magach line in 1:35 from the PANZER ART brand. It is not a vehicle model but an add-on to a kit.

This is an add-on, not a vehicle kit: an accurate replacement barrel of the 105 mm M68 gun for Israeli tanks of the Magach line in 1:35. It replaces the barrel from a plastic kit, which tends to be the weaker point of a model — split lengthwise, with a seam along its whole length and with a cross section that is not always perfectly round. A turned part removes those problems: it is straight, without a seam, and the muzzle is drilled out.
The real subject and the pairing
The Magach marking is carried by Israeli tanks derived from the American types of the M48 and M60 lines, which were armed with exactly the 105 mm M68 gun — the American licensed version of the British L7 type. The pairing of vehicle and gun in the name therefore fits; it is the standard barrel armament of these vehicles, not an incongruous combination. In the same series the maker also lists further barrels of Israeli equipment, so several models can be completed at once.
First try the seating into the gun mantlet of the turret of the particular kit dry — the diameter of the stub differs from kit to kit and sometimes the opening has to be widened or, on the contrary, packed out. Degrease the metal part, so that it holds the primer; without a primer the paint is easily rubbed off the smooth surface. Glue with super glue or with a two-part epoxy; ordinary cement for polystyrene does not work here. When painting, finish the barrel in the same shade as the vehicle and only then add the weathering — fine dusting at the root and slight lightening of the edges both work well on a barrel. Leave the muzzle darker and matte.
The add-on is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and the base model is not included in the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
