The Voyager Model brand specializes in photo-etched and detail parts with which simplified plastic components are replaced, typically thin sheet metal, grilles, brackets, handles and loops whose real thickness cannot be faithfully cast in injection-molded plastic. The M109 is an American tracked self-propelled howitzer of 155 mm caliber with a rotating turret, introduced into service in the first half of the 1960s. The original form carried a howitzer with a short barrel 23 calibers long; later versions got a longer barrel and a range of further modifications to the hull, the turret and the equipment. The type is among the most widespread self-propelled artillery systems of Western design and in various upgrades serves to this day.
Cut the photo-etched parts off with a sharp scalpel or photo-etch scissors, always on a hard surface, so that the sheet does not twist. The bends run along the pressed grooves, best in a bending tool or between two blades. Metal is glued with cyanoacrylate glue or with two-part epoxy: ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on photo-etch. Degrease the parts before painting and cover them with a primer, otherwise the shade will not stay on smooth metal. On artillery equipment the fine parts come out best under a thin wash and a light dusty weathering with pigments.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
