MiG-21bis late colored 3D interior 1:72 (Quinta Studio)

A colored, three-dimensional 3D printed interior applied on decal paper from Quinta Studio in 1:72 scale. The set is intended for the late variant of the single-seat MiG-21bis and brings a finely rendered instrument panel and side panels of the cockpit; the name gives the target kit as the one from Eduard. It is not a model of the aircraft but interior equipment.

The real subject

The MiG-21bis was the most capable single-seat version of the Soviet MiG-21 supersonic fighter. The late production batches differed from the early ones in details of the equipment and of the instrument panel, which is reflected in the way this interior is made. The type was among the most widespread and longest serving fighters of its time.

Application and use

• the elements are cut out and transferred to the cockpit surfaces as wet decals; a decal softener does not belong here, as it would attack the printed resin
• the pre-printed colors and instruments do away with painting the panels
• the resulting interior looks layered and three-dimensional
• legible instruments raise the realism even in a small scale
