Masking stencils for spraying Allied stars and medical crosses on vehicles and tanks in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The white five-pointed star is the best known recognition marking of American vehicles of the Second World War. Jeeps, trucks, half-tracks and tanks all carried it so that their own air force and Allied units would recognize them from a distance and from above. That is exactly why it was painted large and on horizontal surfaces. In the field the crews often toned it down with mud or oversprayed it, because a clearly visible target in the middle of the hull was found by the enemy too. Medical vehicles carried a red cross on a white field in addition, usually on the sides, at the rear and on the roof.
Cut stencils for both of these markings in 1:35 scale, cut for vehicles as well as for tanks. A sprayed star arises directly in the paint of the surface, so no rim of carrier film stays behind and it is not troubled by the rough surface of a cast part or by rivets and welds underneath.
White needs to cover, and on a dark olive base that means several thin coats in succession. Place the stencil on a dry base, press the edges down and spray in two or three passes. Once the stencil comes off, the star is easy to weather: a light coat of the base color over it tones it down to the state it was in after a few weeks in the field. The crosses, on the other hand, suit cleanliness, which was deliberate with the medical units.
For builders of Allied vehicles in 1:35 scale and for dioramas with ambulances. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
