A low-lift pallet truck is an unobtrusive but exceptionally useful prop. In a depot or workshop scene it explains to the viewer how goods are moved, and together with pallets and boxes it gives a scene a clear logic. It is a stand-alone object of a scene, not a kit of machinery.
The same subject in three scales
The accessory is also made in 1:48 and 1:72 scale. The scale is the distinguishing detail — choose it according to the figures and vehicles in your scene.
You will set the truck into a depot, a hall, onto a ramp, by a truck and in the support area of a workshop. It looks best paired with a pallet and with boxes from the same diorama line — pushed under a loaded pallet it looks more natural than standing free in the middle of an area.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw; the forks and the tiller are thin, so proceed with care. Sand the faces, degrease the surface and spray on a primer. Choose the glue according to the material — cyanoacrylate for small resin parts, thin cement for plastic on plastic. Pallet trucks tend to be strongly colored, so a saturated base shade suggests itself, with flaking paint on the edges of the forks over it and a dark wash in the recesses. Make the casters dark gray rather than black, and tie the bottom of the accessory in with the floor or the terrain using pigments.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
