A printed diorama accessory in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of a building and not a kit, but a finished surface with a wooden floor pattern that you lay in the interior of a building or under figures and vehicles in a scene. A floor is surprisingly hard to make by hand: the boards have to be scribed at a regular spacing, the edges rounded and the shades mixed so that the surface does not look like one piece of wood. A printed pattern takes that work over and leaves the modeler time for figures, vehicles and the lighting of a scene.

Where it fits

A boarded floor suits a workshop, a garage, a store and the working rooms where work leaves its traces. Settings like that appear often in dioramas: a repair station, a bench with tools, a store of crates. The floor carries most of the story there, and from the smears and the trodden paths the viewer sees where people walk and where they work. Floors from the numbered range can be combined, so neighboring rooms need not be identical.

Usage tips

• First lay out the furniture and the crates dry, and only then deal with trimming the surface.
• Cut with a new blade along a metal ruler, preferably in several light passes.
• Suggest oil stains with a dark glossy shade in small patches, never over a whole area.
• Lead the dust from the walls toward the middle of the room and leave the center cleaner.
• Before you clear-coat the surface, test the coat on an offcut, as printed surfaces react differently.
