This is a stand-alone detail accessory in colored steel etching from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, not a ship kit. The set contains a flag for a model of the S-38 fast torpedo boat in 1:35 scale. Colored steel is stronger than brass, so the flag can be shaped into a realistic flutter in the wind and will keep that shape.
The S-38 type Schnellboot was a German fast torpedo boat of the Second World War, operated by the Kriegsmarine. With their powerful diesels these boats reached high speeds and were committed to night torpedo attacks in the English Channel, the North Sea and the Mediterranean. A properly rendered flag is a detail that markedly raises the impression of scale fidelity on a finished model.
Separate the parts carefully from the fret and shape the flag with a round rod or tweezers into a natural wave. The steel etching can be fine-tuned by gentle shaping; super glue will serve for attaching it. It is a good idea to blacken or paint the edges, so that they do not shine once installed.
This is a detail accessory, not the ship model itself. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
