The set contains individual metal links of white metal that are threaded onto the supplied wire and joined into a fully workable track. This is a metal replacement for plastic tracks, not a vehicle model. The set faithfully reproduces the characteristic track of the German halftrack tractor with rubber pads and it is meant for models of the Sd.Kfz. 7 (the 8-ton tractor) in 1:35 scale.
The Sd.Kfz. 7 was a German medium halftrack artillery tractor with a capacity of around 8 tons, one of the most used German tractors of the Second World War. It served to tow medium-caliber guns and anti-aircraft cannon and it also became the basis for self-propelled anti-aircraft variants. The combination of a wheeled front end and tracked running gear at the rear gave it good mobility as well as pulling power.
Clean the burrs off the links, put them together into two tracks and join them with a threaded wire that forms the pins; secure the joints with cyanoacrylate. You can blacken the metal by bluing or spray it with primer and paint. The rubber pads offer a rewarding color contrast and room for weathering with washes and pigments. Assemble the track straight on the running gear of the model, so that it settles well.
This is an accessory (replacement tracks), not a complete model. The vehicle kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
