The set replaces the front wheels of a model of a light half-track and carries an off-road tread that the name distinguishes as less usual. For the builder that is exactly what makes it an interesting choice: a tread seen rarely on models gives the vehicle a character of its own, and when building two machines side by side it tells them apart at once. Anyone building from a particular photograph gains another way of coming closer to the subject.
The Sd.Kfz. 250 is a light armored half-track carrier and the Sd.Kfz. 10 a light half-track tractor; both stand on a related chassis, at the rear they have the tracked running gear and at the front an unpowered axle with wheels by which the vehicle steers. Tires for these vehicles were supplied by more than one company and their treads differed in design and in depth, so in period photographs of the same type you will find several forms of the front wheel.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down; then wash and degrease the wheel. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and the manufacturer's instructions. When seating them, watch the vertical position and the same angle on both wheels. Paint the tire dark gray, because pure black looks hard at this scale. The unusual design of the tread is worth showing: leave it only lightly dusted, bring out the gaps between the blocks with a dark wash and run a dry brush over their edges.
What is supplied is an add-on set of front wheels. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
