Running gear wheels for the Sd.Kfz. 250 in the later of the two renderings, tuned to Takom kits. A set in 1:35.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the fall of 1943 the light half-track received a reworked upper part with a reduced number of angled faces. The designers struck out everything that called for bending at complicated angles, and the number of sheet-metal parts fell markedly. The vehicle grew coarser by it, but could be produced considerably faster, and in this form it served out until the last weeks of the fighting. Modelers distinguish the two versions as the old and the new pattern and watch that the body chosen and the small parts belong to the same period.
Alongside the change of body, a second shape of wheel settled in on the running gear. It is just that one that the set brings, so it forms a natural complement to building a machine from the last phase of production. The recesses around the center are shallower here and the rim passes into the surface with a different curve than on the earlier shape.
The target kit is the model from Takom and its arms accept the castings without intervention. The most frequent trouble does not lie in the fit but in haste: a wheel seated with an imperceptible tilt is noticed at once on a finished chassis, because it forms a wedge-shaped gap with the neighboring disk. It has proved best to seat the end pieces first, let them harden and fill in the remaining ones between them. The painting can then be managed even with a thin brush, because you reach every small face before the row closes. Anyone who wants to go beyond that can give a single disk a different shade and thereby suggest a replacement part from the repair shop.
