It is not a model but a set of cast links that replaces the original plastic or rubber tracks from a plastic kit. The set is intended for the German half-track armored personnel carrier Sd.Kfz.251, one of the most widespread half-tracks of the Second World War. Wire for pinning the links together is usually included in the set.
You exchange the metal links for the tracks from the original kit. The benefit is realistic sag of the tracks over the road wheels, the weight of metal and crisper cast detail than plastic or rubber. Once assembled, the tracks stay movable.
The tracks are put together link by link and joined with pins from the enclosed wire. A needle file, small pliers and a pin vise of the wire diameter are usually enough. It is the track of a half-track vehicle, so watch for the correct run around the road wheels and the idlers. The finished tracks blacken and weather well and take a wash as well as pigments. It is an accessory for more advanced modelers.
The set contains metal tracks to assemble. Paints, glue and the model itself are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
