A resin figure in 1:35 made for a scene or for a vehicle model. It is not a kit of equipment but a separate figure. The manufacturer also makes other Soviet figures in the same line, which can be combined into a group.
An officer figure differs from a rank-and-file one in its posture: he stands upright, his hands are free or making a gesture, and he reads as a man who directs the action in a scene rather than the one who carries the load. A modeler profits from that in the composition, because such a figure gives a diorama a focus. The clothing is uniform, with smoother surfaces and less dramatic folds than on working poses, which puts the emphasis on the cleanness of the surfaces. Every imperfection in the surface shows here, so it pays to give time to the preparation before painting.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw as far from the surface as possible and sand the remainder down flat; on smooth surfaces that is exactly the decisive step. Fill the gaps and sand them with fine paper. After the primer, check the surface against the light, as a primer reveals scratches that are not visible on bare resin. Build the uniform from a flat base, lay the shadow thinly into the folds and add highlights on the shoulders, the forearms and the thighs, where the light would fall. On large smooth surfaces fine shading works better than a sharp wash. Leave the face and the hands for last, and the finish belongs to a matte clear coat.
