A figure in 1:35 scale representing a German officer with the rank of Untersturmführer, set in Stoumont in Belgium in 1944. Intended to be painted by the modeler.
Responsibility details are not available.
Untersturmführer was the lowest officer rank, equivalent to a second lieutenant. Stoumont is a municipality in the Belgian Ardennes and the name is bound up with the heavy fighting of the end of 1944, when the German winter offensive was conducted through the wooded hills and narrow roads of the area. For a diorama it is a rewarding setting: snow, mud, wrecked houses and vehicles stuck on the slopes.
A figure of an officer in 1:35 scale, that is in the same scale as ordinary kits of military vehicles and diorama accessories. It will come in useful in a scene, beside a model of a vehicle and on its own in a display case. The number of parts and the way to assemble it are described by the manufacturer's instructions. An officer figure tends to be a rewarding center of a scene, because further figures and vehicles can be arranged naturally around it.
Cut away surplus material with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the area, so that the joint seats without a gap. Wash and degrease the figure before painting. Work from the primer through flat shades to shading and glazes, which bring out the folds of the cloth. A winter scene has rules of its own: keep the tones cooler and less saturated, apply the mud from the bottom and the snow only to a finished and varnished figure. Leave the face for last and paint it in good light.
For modelers who build vehicles and scenes from the end of the war on the Western Front, and for collectors of figures. Paints, glue and other equipment are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
