A plastic kit of the German self-propelled assault gun StuH 42 in the Ausf.G version, early production, in 1:35 scale. The set contains a full interior, so the inside of the fighting compartment and of the engine bay can both be modeled. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The StuH 42 (Sturmhaubitze 42) was the artillery variant of the successful StuG III assault gun. On the same tracked chassis without a rotating turret it carried the powerful 10.5 cm leFH 18 howitzer, intended for direct fire support of infantry and for destroying fortified targets at short range. The early production Ausf.G was one of the later and most numerous versions of the series. A low silhouette and good armor made the StuH 42 an effective combat vehicle that could be fielded without great expense.
First assemble and paint the interior spaces and the running gear, and only then close up the hull — once it is closed the interior is out of reach. Build the tracks and road wheels with the correct sag in mind. For a realistic look, use washes in the recesses of the hull and pigments for mud and dust effects; a primer and an airbrush are ideal. With the interior left open, color accents inside the fighting compartment show to advantage too.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
