Note that this is not a model of a whole combat vehicle. This kit from the manufacturer Tiger Model holds only the separate T-40 combat turret of French make, fitted with a 40 mm gun of the CTAS system. The package consists of plastic sprues complemented by a photo-etched fret, metal parts and decals. The model can be built as a standalone display piece on a base, or else used as a conversion part on a model of a corresponding carrier in the same scale.
The T-40 turret is among the modern French weapon systems for wheeled combat vehicles. Its core is a 40 mm gun with the system of so-called telescoped ammunition, in which the projectile is seated inside the cartridge case. Thanks to this the round is shorter and more compact, which saves room in the fighting compartment and simplifies the feeding of ammunition. The turret is a two-man turret, carries modern observation and sighting systems and is intended for combat against lightly armored targets and for fire against aerial targets. A standalone model of the turret is therefore interesting mainly in that it shows details that are not visible on a complete vehicle.
Because this is a single concentrated assembly, it pays to build in sub-assemblies and paint them separately, especially the barrel and the optics. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue, and degrease the metal parts first and give them a primer coat. Use thin layers of paint on the large smooth surfaces of the turret and add fine shading, as otherwise the model will come across as flat. Keep the weathering restrained, as modern equipment tends to be well maintained. The model looks good on a simple base or as a display exhibit beside a complete vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a vehicle model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
