A set of weighted wheels for the Trippel SG.6 amphibious car in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement wheels with a deflected contact patch, cut for an unusual German amphibious car. They replace the parts from the kit and give the finished model the impression that the weight of the vehicle really does rest on its wheels.
The Trippel SG.6 was among the vehicles that could both drive on the road and swim. It was built in small numbers during the Second World War and was used for trials and limited service, not for mass deployment. For the modeler that is exactly what makes it interesting: in a display case full of ordinary vehicles it catches the eye at once and it makes a rewarding story.
It suits collectors of unconventional vehicles and builders who do not want their model to stand on circular wheels as if on casters. It is rewarding for scenes at a shore too, where a vehicle has just driven out of the water.
On an injection-molded kit a wheel tends to be shaped as an exact cylinder, because otherwise it would be hard to release from the mold. A casting with a deflected contact patch sidesteps that manufacturing compromise, and the difference shows the moment you set the vehicle on a flat surface.
Only the wheels are supplied; neither the vehicle nor its kit is included.
