A commander's cupola with a shield for the M113 carrier in 1:35 scale from DEF Model is a resin replacement for the plastic kit part, not a model in its own right.

This is a detail accessory, not a vehicle model. The set replaces the commander's cupola of the M113 carrier with a version fitted with a protective shield in the configuration known as Okinawa Shield. A resin casting manages the thin walls, the vision blocks and the fine edges that a plastic kit in its basic form usually renders in simplified fashion. The number of parts and the contents of the package are stated on the box; we recommend comparing the shape of the cupola with the M113 model you are building before you buy.
The M113 is a tracked armored personnel carrier with an aluminum alloy hull, used from the 1960s onward in a great many variants and by many armies. The commander's cupola above the hull carries vision blocks and the machine gun mount; in a number of user configurations protective shields of various kinds were added to it, differing according to unit, time and place of deployment.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water so that the surface will take paint. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and wet-sand the surface with respiratory protection. The original plastic cupola generally has to be removed and the opening in the hull adjusted — dry-fit it until the set seats without pressure. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and support the thin sections. Apply a primer before painting so that the resin and plastic surfaces match. Paint the inside of the cupola before you seat it; mask the vision blocks and pick out the edges of the shield with chipping at the end.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
