A resin figure set in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker CMK. According to the name it contains five figures and these are transported soldiers, that is figures shaped to sit in the cargo compartment of a UH-60 helicopter. That is a fundamental difference from figures intended for the ground: a seated figure has bent legs, the back resting and the center of gravity set back, so it will not stand on its own and you will not use it outside a cabin. Five figures at the same time mean that the whole compartment can be filled at once and the helicopter stops looking empty.
The castings come on casting blocks. First wash them in lukewarm water with detergent so that the residue of the mold release agent disappears, otherwise the base color holds poorly. Cut the block off with a modeling saw or a knife a little way from the part and sand the remainder down. On figures the parting line usually runs along the outer side of the legs and along the arms; scrape it with the edge of a scalpel and go over it with a fine abrasive file. Do not inhale resin dust; it pays to sand wet. Before you reach for the glue, seat the figures dry in the cabin and adjust the contact surfaces of the back and the seat until they fit without being forced. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and with heavier parts a pin of thin wire helps.
On resin a base color is necessary, as without it the layer will peel off. Build the skin up in three steps: a base tone, a brown glaze into the shadows around the eyes and under the chin, a lighter tint on the forehead, cheekbones and the bridge of the nose. In this scale and in the gloom of a cabin it is enough to suggest the eyes with a dark line. Undercoat the uniform with a base shade and pull the folds out with a thin glaze, going gently over the edges with a dry brush. With five figures together, vary the skin tone and the degree of fading of the uniform slightly, otherwise they look like castings from one mold. Finally tie the figures in with the helicopter: the same dusty tint on the boots and knees as on the cabin floor, and a common matte clear coat.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
