US Navy SEAL, Vietnam period N°1, 1:35 scale is a Black Dog resin figure in tropical kit for riverine and coastal scenes.
Responsibility details are not available.
A standalone resin figure from Black Dog. The number one indicates that this is the opening piece of a numbered group focused on American servicemen of the Vietnam War era; the other numbers of the same group can be bought separately and built into a patrol.
The fighting in Southeast Asia took place largely in water and mud, and that shaped the look of the men: light tropical clothing, a hat or a scarf instead of a helmet, kit carried high for wading and a minimum of metal buckles. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject, because the scene needs no large vehicle; a piece of brown water, a tussock of reeds and one figure are enough to hold it together.
Wash the mold release agent off the casting, or the paint will slide. Remove the mold remains with a scalpel drawn away from the body and go over the parting seam with a sanding sponge. For tropical clothing it works well to start from an olive-greenish base and add slight fading on the shoulders and thighs, where the fabric suffers most from the sun. The boots and the trouser legs call for a muddy patina; it is applied from the bottom upward and has to fade out higher up, otherwise it looks sprayed on.
The figure is cast in resin and is supplied without paint and without a terrain base.
