1:35 US soldiers special group team big set is the largest item of this American figure group from Black Dog, built for a more extensive diorama in 1:35.
Responsibility details are not available.
The words big set at the end of the name place the item above the other items of this group. For a modeler that means a task of a different kind from painting one figure: a more extensive figure item is built as a scene with a dramaturgy of its own, where every figure has its task and the scene has both a beginning and an end for the eye. The 1:35 scale meanwhile keeps the detail legible even over a larger area.
Divide the base into three bands and give each a different amount of activity. Let there be only one band where something is happening; the rest of the scene should work as accompaniment, or the viewer will not know where to look. Leave sight lines between the figures and do not be afraid of empty areas; a dusty surface, a broken road or the space between crates will carry even larger open patches.
Paint in stages: all the undercoats first, then all the uniforms, and the details and faces last. You save mixing and keep the shades consistent. Before you start gluing, check the placing dry and photograph it from every side the scene will be seen from. Leave the unifying for the end, a shared thinned tone, dust from the base and a matte varnish over the whole scene.
