This is not a kit or a set for a particular model but a metal plate 100x50 mm overall, into which a mesh texture is etched over the whole area. The maker Hauler designates it as the German type. You cut the material exactly to the shape of the opening or the cover you want to face.
The grilles over the radiators and fans of an engine compartment, the covers of air intakes, the ventilation of superstructures and protective screens are among the most conspicuous places on any model of a military vehicle. A plastic mold molds them as a solid surface with a suggested pattern, which seen from above immediately gives away that it is a model. A metal plate with a regular mesh removes that impression and keeps a sharp pattern even after painting.
Cut out a piece slightly larger, offer it up in place and adjust the edge with a file until it sits down. Glue with super glue applied around the edge onto a sanded and degreased base. The impression of depth is made with paint: leave the area under the mesh, or the hollows of the pattern themselves, dark, apply a lighter shade to the edges with a dry brush and finally add a fine wash. The eye then sees space even where there is physically no hole. Suggest soot and dust around the exhausts with pigments right at the end.
