Figures for building a scene from the period of the war in Vietnam, as the name gives. The abbreviation in the name marks a long-range reconnaissance patrol and the numeral determines the first part of the series; two figures are given. The set suits as the base of a smaller group that can be extended gradually with the following parts.
It is the English designation of long-range reconnaissance, that is of patrols of a few men who moved far from their own rear and whose task was to observe, not to give battle. The equipment matched that: as few noisy things as possible, light packs, plenty of water and ammunition. For a modeler this is interesting exactly because such figures look different from line infantry beside equipment. The group moved outside the reach of immediate help, so every piece carried had to have a clear purpose.
Paint camouflage patterns from the top down: first an all-over middle tone, then the dark patches and finally small light accents. Keep the patches in scale, because too large a field of the pattern will visually shrink the figure. The faces of the scouts take irregular smears of camouflage face paint. A final matte pass unifies the gloss between cloth and skin. It holds at the same time that on a small figure you had better simplify the pattern than try to carry over every single shape from the real subject.
