Injection-molded plastic kit VK45.01(H) Tiger Experimental in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model: the prototype version of the Henschel Tiger tank with chassis V1.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit captures the experimental, prototype version of the German Tiger tank from Henschel, the VK45.01(H) with chassis number V1. The letter H refers to Henschel, as against the competing VK45.01(P) design from Porsche. It is a new mold with workable link tracks, a one-piece commander's cupola and photo-etched parts. The model captures the early, not yet settled form of the Tiger with a number of details that never reached series production.
The VK45.01(H) was a development, prototype machine from which the famous production Tiger I (Panzerkampfwagen VI) grew. The pre-production and prototype vehicles differed from later production in a number of details: a different arrangement of the fenders, the tools, the cupola and the running gear. Chassis V1 was among the first test machines from Henschel. It is exactly this early character that makes the model an interesting subject for anyone who follows the development of German heavy armor.
First assemble the running gear and any interior parts that you will not reach once the hull is closed up. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate and the plastic with thin modeling cement; give the workable tracks time so that they sag faithfully. Apply a primer and spray with an airbrush; dark gray suits an early machine. A wash will bring out the rivets and the details, a dry brush the edges. Dust and mud on the running gear and the tracks are built up with pigments, and wear with a hint of chipping.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
