A scenic accessory for a diorama in 1:35 scale. It is not a part for a kit but a stand-alone object of a scene, built and painted separately. A water container is one of those objects that in reality appear practically everywhere people work or live — by a workshop, in a yard, at a field support area and on the bed of a vehicle. That is exactly why it is a universal accessory, suited to most compositions regardless of the subject.
A volume of 20 liters matches an ordinary portable container that one person can carry. In a scene it therefore relates naturally to figures: stood beside a figure it completes it believably, laid on a load area it suggests that the vehicle is on its way somewhere. In 1:35 scale it is a small object that does not carry a scene by itself, but it is among the things whose absence is in the end more noticeable than their presence — an empty yard looks like a backdrop, a yard with tools and containers like a place where work is done.
Clean the parts up and try the joints dry. Choose the glue according to the material: cyanoacrylate super glue for resin and printed parts, modeling cement for plastic on injection-molded parts. Lay down a filler primer. The painting depends on whether the container is to be metal or plastic — metal will take rust, wear and a high-contrast wash, while plastic looks more believable with a subdued sheen and only mild dirt. A dry brush helps the bands, the cap and the edges. Water streaks and lime marks around the neck are the detail that brings an object to life more than the best base shade. Finally even the surface out with a matte or semi-matte varnish.
