Voyager Model 1:35 Churchill with the 3-inch 20 cwt gun — photo-etched detail set is an accessory for a plastic kit you already own, not a standalone model. The metal photo-etched parts refine the details of the gun and the fighting superstructure on the AFV Club 35253 kit.

This is an aftermarket set of photo-etched metal from Voyager Model. It is not a model of the vehicle but an accessory for the AFV Club 35253 plastic kit. Photo-etched parts are used wherever a plastic part would have to be unnaturally thick because of the injection molding process: on thin sheet, covers, brackets, clamps and the small equipment around the gun installation.
The British Churchill was a heavy infantry tank with a characteristically long track outline and side hatches. A version with a casemate superstructure carrying the 3-inch gun of 76.2 mm caliber in the 20 cwt configuration was also built on its chassis; that gun was originally an anti-aircraft weapon and came to an armored vehicle as an available gun with good penetrative effect. The vehicle was built only in a small batch and in this form it remained a marginal chapter of British development, which makes it all the more interesting for modelers looking for an out-of-the-ordinary subject.
Brass is springy from the factory and on larger parts a bend tends to return. Brief annealing over a flame helps: the part is warmed to a faintly red shade, left to cool and becomes markedly more pliable. Anneal only where you need it, though, and never parts with fine perforation. Take the bends on the marked grooves, and glue small clamps with cyanoacrylate in minute drops. First carefully cut away the original plastic details the photo-etched parts replace and sand the surface flat, otherwise the new part will not seat.
The set holds photo-etched metal parts only. It does not hold the plastic kit, the glue or the paints.
