This accessory from the Czech maker Eduard is made by three-dimensional printing in resin and represents a German hammer of the Second World War period in 1:35 scale. Tools fixed to the fenders, beds and sides of vehicles are among the details you spot at once on a finished model: plastic pieces from the box tend to be simplified in shape and carry traces of parting lines, whereas a printed part has a clean shape and sharp edges. The accessory is intended to replace or complete the tools on a kit, or as a small element in a diorama.
Hand tools were carried on military vehicles in clamps on the outer skin and are almost always clearly visible in period photographs. In 1:35 scale it is a part on the order of a centimeter, but the fidelity of its shape markedly affects the impression of the whole model, because a viewer subconsciously takes their bearings from familiar objects. The accessory in itself is neither a kit nor a model of a vehicle.
Separate the part carefully from the printing support structure, ideally with a razor saw or a very sharp scalpel, and level the cut with a sanding sponge. Wash the surface in lukewarm soapy water, so that no residue from manufacture is left on it, and let it dry thoroughly. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin; ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Apply a primer before painting, and then a base shade, a dry brush on the metal parts and a light wash into the grooves are enough. Protect your airways when sanding resin and work with extraction or wet.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
