Photo-etched parts for a model of the anti-aircraft version of the Panzer IV in 1:35 scale. On models of vehicles, photo-etched parts deal mainly with one thing: thickness. The sheet-metal features on the real vehicle are thin, whereas their plastic counterpart in a kit has to have a noticeable substance because of the way it is made. An etched part, by contrast, is a fraction of a millimeter thick, so the edges look right in scale and the corners stay crisp. Which sections of the model the set supplements is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The name points to the German anti-aircraft version built on the chassis of the Panzer IV tank in its Ausf. G version and armed with weapons of 20 mm caliber. Machines of this purpose came about in order to protect columns and units from attacks by low-flying aircraft, and they differ from ordinary tanks mainly in the upper part, where the weapon sits in an open space. It is precisely the open upper part that makes these vehicles a rewarding subject, because it can be seen into and accessories inside it stand out.
Separate the parts from the sheet with a sharp blade on a hard surface rather than with nippers. Level the remains of the tab with a fine file. Bend over a sharp edge, best of all in a bending tool or between the jaws of flat tweezers, and at the first attempt. They are glued with cyanoacrylate in minute drops, or with a two-part epoxy where time is needed to seat a part. Before painting, degrease the parts and apply a primer. Whatever is to go inside the vehicle should be fitted and painted before the space is closed up.
The kit of the vehicle, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
