An add-on detail set, not a standalone model. It holds an accurately turned metal barrel of the long 75 mm StuK 40 L/48 gun and a cast resin gun mantlet (Topfblende) in 1:35 scale. The metal barrel replaces the plastic part of the base kit, the gluing together and cleaning up of the lengthwise gap falls away and the muzzle is cleanly drilled.
The Sturmgeschütz IV was a German assault gun of the late war built on the chassis of the Panzer IV and armed with the long 75 mm StuK 40 L/48 gun, the same as on the late StuG III. The cast shielding of the barrel (Topfblende) is characteristic of late production, and this set captures it faithfully on a model.
Deburr and degrease the metal barrel. Wash the mold release off the resin mantlet and cut the casting block away, protecting your breathing while you do. Join metal with resin and with plastic using cyanoacrylate. Before painting, lay on a primer suitable for metal; the paint and the weathering then hold on it.
