A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:35 scale that faithfully reproduces Zimmerit on a model of the Panther Ausf. A medium tank in its late version. Zimmerit was the textured anti-magnetic coating applied to the surfaces of German tanks during the war to stop magnetic mines from sticking. It is not a model of the tank but an applique accessory for a plastic kit.
The Panther was a German medium tank of the Second World War armed with a long 75 mm gun. The Zimmerit paste was applied by hand and formed a characteristic texture, and it is that texture in miniature that this set aims at.
The etched segments are laid onto the matching areas of the hull and the turret and glued with cyanoacrylate glue. We recommend working in smaller areas and watching the continuity of the pattern. Once in place, the surface is sprayed over with an airbrush and brought out with a wash, which settles nicely into the relief.
This is an add-on photo-etched set. The plastic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
