Turned barrels for the ZU-23-2

The set replaces the barrels on a model of the Soviet ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun in 1:35 scale. These are turned metal parts, that is barrels machined on one axis with an open muzzle. Compared with a plastic part there is no filling or cleaning up to do, and the barrel stays straight even after being glued on, which on a pair of long barrels side by side is immediately visible.

The real subject

The ZU-23-2 is a Soviet towed anti-aircraft gun with two barrels of 23 mm caliber. In the traveling position it stands on a two-wheeled carriage; in the firing position it is spread out onto outriggers. The weapon spread all over the world, it still turns up in conflicts today and it is also mounted permanently on the beds of trucks and off-road vehicles, so it also suits building improvised equipment on civilian chassis.

Installation tips

• Cut off the plastic barrel where the transition into the mounting ends and level the area.
• Carefully drill through the hole for the pin of the barrel and test it dry.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate; ordinary cement for polystyrene will not join metal.
• Line both barrels up at the same elevation and in one plane.
• Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer, or the paint will flake off.

What the delivery contains

Turned barrels are supplied according to the manufacturer's packaging. The model of the gun, a vehicle, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
