A large injection-molded plastic kit of the German battleship Bismarck in 1:350 scale from Revell. It is a richly broken-up model of the highest difficulty; the box contains hundreds of parts, four detailed main-caliber gun turrets, secondary and anti-aircraft armament, boats, two shipboard Arado 196 floatplanes, cranes, a display stand and decals for several periods of service. The assembled model is around 72 cm long and ranks among the real giants of the display case.
Bismarck was the heaviest and most modern German battleship of her day. In 1941, together with the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, she took part in Operation Rheinübung in the Atlantic, where she sank the British battlecruiser Hood. After a pursuit lasting several days, Bismarck was damaged by an aerial torpedo and then sunk by a British force. Her name became a symbol of the naval war in the Atlantic.
Glue the plastic with liquid cement and proceed in subassemblies. Glue the long hull on a flat surface, so that it does not bow. Lay down a primer before the color coats, apply the paints with an airbrush and keep to the period camouflage scheme. Pick the panel lines and the decks out with a line and restrained weathering, and finish the small parts and the rigging at the end. Because of the number of fine parts, expect a longer build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
